There are also many of the works of other European heavyweights of the art world such as Hieronymus Bosch, Titian, Raphael, Rembrandt and Botticelli, to name but a few. The Museo Reina Sofia is the Spanish National museum of 20th century art. Two of the most important modern artists of the last century were the Spaniards Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, and there are extensive collections of the work of both of these artists. Picasso’s famous painting ‘Guernica’ is one of the centrepieces of the Reina Sofia. City breaks to Madrid allow an introduction to the city that doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Getting around the city is easy thanks to the excellent public transport network – particularly the Metro, or underground train system.
